The thing that surprises me (well life surprises me, but this particular one wanted to be written about today) is that 338,000,000 people can’t, or haven’t the will, to oust a man who is obviously and literally destroying the country. We seem content to let the system work, to wait for elections, to trust in the same system that brought us this outrageous wrecking ball.

We actually think that he will step down, or if he doesn’t the authorities will remove him. That is not in the Constitution. There is nothing in the book that allows for the removal of the President if he refuses to go.

What’s going to happen when he steals the midterms? He is already setting that in motion.

He has already stolen and integrity the US had, that last drop of respect the world had for us. He has gutted our trading partners, burned all the fuel for an economic rebound. He’s twisted truth so far there is no ability to trust anything, even one another, and in the process, he has savaged our hearts and our souls.

He has laughed at the environment, not caring what happens, stopping wind projects, pushing oil and coal, selling the narrative that global warming is a hoax like the snake oil salesman he is. Tell that to Nepal and Tibet. They are not even the beginning of the fallout, more like an early middle, nowhere close to the end.

We were warned and we did nothing, kind of like what we are doing right now with the orange toddler-in-chief, sitting back and letting him pound more nails on top of nails in our collective coffin.

I don’t know why I bother. Our collective malaise continues to be met with apathy, and honestly, there’s not much left to salvage anyway … other than the people. We have been conned all along, taught to hate our neighbors, to hoard our resources, to mistrust one another, to believe that some matter more than others. We, each and every one of us, yes, even those of us who are the most fearful and confused, are worth so much more than this. The people matter, all of the people.

Perhaps we need to accept that the known world is collapsing, that it was always going to collapse, that it was built on a foundation of lies, and trust that those few survivors won’t revert to dog eat dog and instead set the foundation for something truly worth saving.
