It’s all just one big circus tent. Inside the tent is anything you want to experience, whether that want is conscious or not. We are born in the tent and die there. Nothing happens outside of the Big Tent. All experiences are worthy of you, even if others think your life is a waste of time; that’s their act under the tent, not yours.
It’s all here. Anything you can imagine …
Step into the ring filled with dollar signs and gather as much as possible, attempt to win at Monopoly, or see how it feels to lose it all, who you are, what you become when your pockets are empty, what you become, who you are when they’re filled to overflowing.
Be outlandishly loud, quiet as a mouse, or vacillate in-between. Each expression has its payoff and cost. Maybe you’ll learn something about how it feels to risk speaking up or what it feels like when you keep your mouth shut, how contraction and expansion feel in your body. Was it fear that moved you or something else? It’s all experimentation, so go ahead and spin the Wheel of Death and see where the knife lands.
Be an activist advocating for just about anything, the ringmaster of a specific ring or the whole damn thing. Advocate for things that others are actively advocating against. Be a couch potato, or as Kenny used to say, stick your head in a bucket of sand (hey, sometimes that’s an immediate solution too). Is the world worth fighting for? What is it that inspires you anyway? How does standing in the trenches with others feel? You’re standing in a great big tent with every disguise imaginable so feel free to change it up, to try a different angle.
Care about others and stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves or try on self-protection apathy cruelty and see how they fit, how they feel. Your body is a true compass, one that came fully installed with your first cry under the Big Tent. Test it out. See what feels right to you.
Laze in the ring of love, trying to find it, withholding it, searching for it, or how to be it. Deny it all you want. It doesn’t change a thing. Have your experience, even when your experience is one of numbness to the experience. There is no one ring that’s better than the others, although that may be the story you are telling yourself. Whatever it is, you can’t help but live it fully. You can’t not, even when it appears that you can. You’re just fully living the story called not living fully.
You feel. You experience. All of your senses are drenched under the wild and wooly, infinitely exacting feedback loop of the circus tent, the greatest (also the only) show on Earth.
